I'm hungry of gnocchi!

Today, i’m going to talk about my favorite food…THE GNOCCHI!
The gnocchi is a kind of italian food, is made of potato but it can make with many different ingredients like pumpkin or ricotta. Like every pasta, the gnocchi is served with salsa.
The ingredients of gnocchi dough’ are: 1 kilo of big potatos, 300 g of flour, 2 eggs, salt and nutmeg.
First wash the potatoes and cook in their skins. When they are ready, peel and grind. Then add the flour and stir, finally add the salt.
Later turn the dough into a table and knead with hands, form thin and long rolls and cut two cm each one.
To finish put them in a hot water pot on fire. Know that gnocchi are ready when they rise to the surface.
They are different types of salsa like bolognesa, putanesca and alfredo. My favorite is the putanesca that has olives, tomatos, aji, garlic and more. Its a mediterranean sauce.
I like very much this dish because mi grandmather cooked every Sunday when i went to see her since i was a child. Now, my grandmather its gone but my mother makes them like a familiar tradition.

The anthropology according The Guardian

Hi! Today I’m going to talk about an article of The Guardian, an England newspaper. This article talks about anthropology, the career who I study. In first place, presented the anthropology like the study of the human species, its culture and history, and said that it may cover language, physiology, art and the organization of society.
The article has the advantages of studying anthropology and talk about the tools who this discipline gives to you, what they are about the courses, and much more. In this manner, the news talk about what will I learn if study this discipline, what skills will it give me, what job can I get and what will look good on my CV.
So, according The Guardian the anthropology "it's taking an interest in other people's lives - what they do, how they do it and why they bother, is a broad subject that explores how, when and where human life began and examines human behaviour, cultures, history and social organisations. It even attempts to answer some of the big questions about what it is to be human."
About the skills who give the career, the article said you should graduate armed with the tools to observe, listen and question the ways in which people and society act.
Anthropology incorporates a number of other disciplines, so you will have also acquired an understanding of sociology, history, biological sciences and possibly development studies.
You should be able to articulate your opinions, either through oral presentations or in essay forms, and have an empathy for the way other cultures and societies live.
The fieldwork aspect of your course will mean you will know how to work in a team, research ideas and present them to a wider audience.
About the jobs the news relates that you could work in the public sector, perhaps as a charity fundraiser or community development worker, although you will be suitable for a host of others. Journalist, librarian, human resource officer are other options, and if you want to do a touch more study you could become a social researcher, lecturer or information scientist.

My last concert!

Hi! Today I’m going to talk about my last concert. It was in December 7^th and the music group that went to see is Cultura Profetica.

They are four musicians from Puerto Rico : Willy Rodríguez, Omar Silva, Eliut González y Boris Bilbraut. They was form in 1996.

They are not limited to a single musical classification, although, their musical base is the “reggae roots”. However take jazz, funk and electronic music, also rhythms of hip hop and ska and brazilian music. I like because they are aware about the socio-politicals realities and motivate people to change.

They sing for freedom, equality, nature and the love for his country but his lyrics reach around the world. Their songs are fresh and spontaneus, with contemporary and universal character. They are an original and motivator music group.

However, their last disc I don’t like very much because is very romantic and most of their song talks about love. Equally, I went to see them because I thought that they would sing old songs

The concert was in the new place called Chimkowe in Peñalolen, near of the university. The place is very nice with a great soundsystem and very comfortable. Finally, the concert it was excellent, they sing almost three hours and play all of their songs, old and new.

A beautiful place...

There are so many places I would like to go, however, for some time ago I thought about going to México.

I would love to go because it’s a beautiful and great country, there are different cultures and gorgeous scenery like the mountains, the coasts, the valley, the desert and much more.

I would like to go in the winter of 2012 because in Mexico City will be a Latin American Congress of Students of Anthropology and Archealogy. This congress is a forum for meeting and sharing of knowledge which enriches you as a student and as a person. Know many different people throughout latin american.

I went to this congress in 2010 that it was in the azapa valley, near to arica and was a unforgettable experience. I learned a lot, not only of anthropology, and know great people who I hope to find in mexico.

On the other hand, I think that in Mexico are the best universities to study anthropology like UNAM and ENAAH, because of that I would like to study a postgraduate in this country; this is another reason why I like to travel to Mexico.

La nación clandestina

Today, I’m going to talk about a movie. The director is Jorge Sanjinés, and the movie called “La nacion clandestina”, this a Bolivian film that is about aymara peasant who denies his community and works with army like as a repressor during the military dictatorship. Then, he wants to back to their community for redemption doing a traditional dance which is dance to death.

This is one of my favorite’s directors because the subject that is shows in his movies are part of the past and present of latinoamerican Indian reality, his movies rescue the Andean cultural identity and show different historical events that marked Bolivia.Other films of Sanjinés are Yawar Mallku y las Banderas del Amanecer.

I think we should see more latinoamerican films because they have very interesting subjects that bring us closer to our own reality.

A new and strange term

In my first blog i’m going to talk about this strange second semester. I think anyone like summer classes, but is the risk we take in the first place when decided begin mobilizations.

However, I have high expectations about this term because some subjects that I took it seem to me very interesting. I hope approve all of them and get good marks to finish in February so don’t attend to final exams in March. Some of my subjects are rural and urban anthropology, cognitive culture and visual ethnography.

On the other hand, I feel a little bit sad about this semester because it means I will not travel to my home in Christmas and summer time. I’m from Punta Arenas and is very expensive and far from Santiago to travel such a short time.

My blog experience

Today i’m going to talk about my blogging experience.
I’m not really a techie person, however, i like this experience becouse i learn how create a blog and how visit the blogs of my classmates. I didn’t have an idea how Works blogs becouse, like i said, i dont use the computer very much. I enjoy this experience becouse i knew some things about my classmates such their preferences in music or food.
I think that make the blog help me to improve my english becouse i learn many words, and improve my gramar a bit. Also i liked the blog becouse we wrote about daily things, i could give my opinion and say some things about my tastes.
i thing the blog is a funny experience for learn more english becouse is interactive and technologic, also i thing its a new experience for me becouse i had never had english class in a computer and neither in any signature in the university.
one disadvantages of blogging experience is the time of our class, becouse we finish at 730 and for me it is very late for stay in the university. I arrived to my house so tired like 830. Other bad thing of the blog is that some times i didn’t know what to write and i didn’t feel like. Also some times i didn’t know if i was writing well, therefore is necessary the teacher’s correction. Finally the vocabulary we will need for our career is more specific than that we use in class.
However the blogging experience is much better than regular class for many reasons like knew my class mates, writ about funny and interesting things or just for distracting me of the university with a difference kind of class (although this experience is the university too).

world cup

Tomorrow i'm going to watch the soccer game in Mariela's house, she is a class mate of antrophology and we will meet with all my friends in her house, tonight. We will make a "Mexican night". We will take tequila and will eat plugs for waiting for the game that will be tomorrow at 7.30 am. I thing the world cup it joins the people of its own countries but at the same times it creates rivalries. The wolrd cup its a nice instance to enjoy the sports, specifically, the soccer. i like watch the matches becouse always i watch with my friends with a barbecue and beer. always its a great time for stay with the people who i loved and for have a good time. i think that chile its going to be a good participation in this match and i hope that won the game. also i think honduras is not the most stronger rival in the group H, for this reason i think that Chili should take advantage in this game.

For our country it will be a great oportunity have a good performance in this world cup becouse our country it was not taking part of a world cup since 1998 in france. After 12 years is very important for chilian people that his country play in the world cup because in chile the soccer is parto of the life of chilians and is the most popular sport.

This photograph is very special to me becouse was taken by my mum in my house in Punta Arenas. It Shows me and my sister in the frontyard of my beatiful house. My home is 11 kilometres far from the city and is very cozy and warm, the thing that i like the most is that it have sight to the strait of Magallanes.
The photograph was taken the first day of snow in winter like two years ago in my holidays in Punta Arenas. I like very much this photograph becouse i miss so much my mum and my house. Also i like the snowed city, and the snow its look gorgeous in the trees and in the cealings of the houses. I like to make forms with the snow or just look at it.
This winter i will not go to Punta Arenas, therefore i will not see the snow. However my mum cames to Santiago for a week for stay with us, me and my sister.
I dont like santiago, one of the reasons is that it doesn’t snow here and the houses aren’t cozy enough like in Punta Arenas, hahaha.
My mom took this photo because she wanted a photograph of her daughters and insisted very much for it. It’s not a good quality photo because we took it from the my sister's cellphone and it is very old. However, it’s a very good memory but my mom should be there."

my favourite music group

I don’t really have a favourite music group because my tastes in music change over time.

Currently, my favourite music group is Cultura Profetica. They are four musicians from puerto rico : Willy Rodríguez, Omar Silva, Eliut González y Boris Bilbraut. they was form in 1996.

They have 6 musical productions and they have performed in the most important cities of latin america and USA.

Cultura profetica are not limited to a single musical classification, although, their musical base is the “reggae roots”. However take jazz, funk and electronic music, also rhythms of hip hop and ska and brazilian music. They achieve a unique sound, admired by many people.

I like because they are aware about the socio-politicals realities and motivate people to change.

The last year cultura profetica visited chile in the ripcurl festival, and also presented in 2007, both times in santiago.

my ipod

I'm not a very tecnological person but i think that if i had to choose one, it would be my ipod. An ipod is a portable reproductor, you can play music, videos and pictures. Also have a couple of games. My father gave it to me for my birthday two years ago. It is silver and has 4GB of memory. To use it, you connect it your computer and upload your music o whatever you want. I use my ipod almost every day, in the bus, way to university, in the subway, when i’m traveling or i connect to my stereo. The music is very important for me, i need it and my ipod is the best solution for this problem, because i can take my music with me wherever. Also i like it because bother me the noise of Santiago, with my music isolated me from noise pollution. I think that my life isn’t be any different without my ipod, I think I can do my life without most of the technological pieces, however, would bother me much the environmental noise. Finally, i would like i Little more memory in my ipod, as a music lover is already too small.

the person who admire

The person who I admire is Gabriel Salazar, he is a chilean historian. One of the most important in contemporary social and political historiagraphy. He was born in santiago, in 1936. He study his secundary in the Liceo de Aplicación and then study history, sociology and philosophy at the same time in the University of Chile. In 1970 he was part of MIR but then for the dictatorship he was arrested and exiled.
Their contribution to the chilean historiography is being one of the most exponent of social history, branch who is about the popular subject and social events. His most important studies are about the social subject in the XIX century and social movements in XX century. Furthermore Salazar is one of creators of the “NEW SOCIAL HISTORY”. In 2006 he won the Premio Nacional de Historia.
I like salazar because thier studies are about the popular subject, and normaly the historiagraphy do not interested in them. Also he wrote about the social facts that i think are esencial in the history of our country because are made by the real social actors.

The last movie that I saw

The last movie that I saw is “The imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”, is a fantasy movie where the leader of a theatrical company, by means of a deal with the Devil, makes happen to the members of his hearing across a magic mirror to explore your imagination.
The main actors are Christopher Plummer, Tom Waits and Heath Ledger.
I like very much this movie because it is full of colors, psychedelic and energy. However, I was interested in seeing because it was the last movie of Heath Ledger, who sadly died during the recording. In spite of it the producers completed the movie with other actors like Jonny Depp, my favorite actor, Jude Law and Colin Farrell that personified transformations of the personage of Heath.
This movie gives you to think about the decisions of our lives and their implications. I totally recommend this movie and I think that may have different interpretations because is it metaphorical.

The night of february 26!!

The night of february 26 i was in the beach called El Tabo, with my friends, exploiting the last days of hollidays. My boyfriend’s family have a house there and that night we were celebrating the birthday of my boyfriend’s brother when suddenly the earth started their movement. At first i didn’t scared but when i saw that didn’t stop i freaked out.
We were in the frontyard of the house, which is very old and it’s made of wood, for this reason was moving from side to side as if it were to collapse right on top of us.
In a few seconds we went to the gate to get out but in that moment we could see the door closed with padlock and, of course, the keys were in the house!
However, nothing bad happened to us but the next two or three days we sleep in the first floor with clothes and shoes on, ready to escape.

Hello! I’m Consuelo Gonzalez , i from punta arenas but today i live in Santiago,Chile. I came to this city because i enter in the University of Chile to study a college, in first place, and then Anthropology .
